We aim to deliver high quality, relevant programming to Thornbury and surrounding villages. We support development of our community through frequent on-air mentions, sponsorship and campaigns. Unlike other stations, scarcely 10 minutes will pass without you hearing the word "Thornbury" or something else that is locally relevant!
Musically we are far more diverse than other stations on the dial. In contrast to most commercial stations that playlist only 300-400 songs, our playlist has over 5000 songs, and that excludes the music we play in specialist shows!

The village of Cromhall usually holds a Flower Show and Village Fayre on the first Saturday of September at 2pm on the St Andrew's School field.

Be the key contact for fundraising in your local community to raise money from a variety of activities such as collections, social events and Tea Parties.
The Fundraising Group Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a group of volunteers to raise funds through events or other activities, delegating tasks to other members of the group as required and being the key contact in the local area.
What could the role involve?
•Organising and attending events such as the Great Guide Dogs Tea Party, Pub Quizzes and collections in your local area
•Encouraging local businesses, schools and groups to name their own guide dog puppy
•Building relationships with local networks, socials groups, schools and businesses to encourage them to host their own event in support of Guide Dogs
•Working as part of Guide Dogs’ fundraising team with staff and volunteers
•Liaising with Community Fundraiser informing them of events in your area
•Making sure your fundraising policies and procedures are followed
•Being a passionate local ambassador for Guide Dogs’ work
•Ensuring that any information provided by Guide Dogs is cascaded to relevant supporters or volunteers
•Ensuring income raised from events is banked in a timely manner

In this role you will support a person with sight loss to get out and about in their local community, building self-confidence, increasing social interaction, and promoting independence.

What you’ll be doing:
We rely on volunteers like you to help us improve the lives of people with sight loss. In this role your support will include:
•Delivering sighted guide assistance, using skills provided in our training, on a regular basis to someone with a visual or vision impairment to help increase their confidence, varying from 3 months to 12+ months.
•Meeting at agreed times/location based on the mutually agreed activity plan.
•Maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
•Providing regular feedback on partnership progress and highlighting any issues that may arise in the partnership to your key contact.
Ideally you will:
•Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to use them when support is required.
•Be patient and flexible.
•Act in a non-judgemental way, without discrimination.
•Have the physical ability to guide someone with a visual impairment.

Training and support
This role has the equivalent of 2 days of training, which can be flexible around your requirements, and then you’ll be ready to go! These modules include:
•Sighted Guide training
•Guide Dogs safeguarding training
If you have questions about the training requirements, we can answer these at your interview along with any other support or accessibility needs you may have.
Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any expenses related to your volunteering with us in line with our policy.
What we need from you
Criminal Disclosure check necessary? Yes, this role requires that you have an Enhanced Disclosure check (PVG in Scotland).
We are working hard to make sure anyone who wants to can volunteer for Guide Dogs, but at the moment we have a minimum age of 18 for this particular role.

The National Garden Scheme is proud to say that 80% of money raised through opening gardens goes to health charities.
In our area, Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath there are almost 40 gardens to choose from, all described in the local 'Yellow book.' In South Gloucestershire 7 very different gardens open to visitors providing 'Great Gardens, Great Cakes!' Some will open for groups, at a time to suit you, 'By Arrangement'.

The huge benefits of gardens and gardening to health and well being are now well recognised. You may feel you would like to become involved in this inspiring organisation. It's possible to volunteer in a small way by helping with serving teas, or you may even feel that your own garden could be enjoyed by others. Seeing the pleasure on visitors' faces and sharing your endeavours with others, whilst helping the NGS charities, has a huge 'feel good factor.'

We provide a lifeboat search-and-rescue service on the Severn Estuary between Gloucester and the Severn Bridges – one of the most challenging waterways in the UK. We need a volunteer fundraising crew who can give some of their weekend time, working alongside the operational lifeboat crew to collect the essential donations that keep the lifeboat station running.
If you are 18+, enthusiastic, willing to tell our story to the public – and able to give at least 20 hours a year of your time, then this volunteering opportunity could be just right for you.
In return, we will introduce you to the work we do, give you occasional opportunity to go out on one of the lifeboats, give you a uniform, and involve you in the life of the lifeboat station. Suitable volunteers may also be able to progress to full operational crew in the future.
