Tytherington History Group Visit to Bowood House and Gardens
09.30 Coach will leave Tytherington and travel to Bowood House near Chippenham
10.45 Arrive Bowood with time for a quick coffee and/or comfort break.
11.15 Walk up to the House for a 30mins History of Bowood talk at 11.30 whilst seated in the Chapel with time for questions.
Afterwards you have free time to take an unguided tour of the House with Highlights to look out for such as:-
Queen Victoria’s Wedding Chair
Napoleon’s Death Mask
The Laboratory in which Joseph Priestley identified Oxygen Gas
Collection of Art and Historical Treasures
There is also an Exhibition titled “1776 Secrets, Spies and the American Revolution”
Included in your admission to look at is a Doric Temple, Lake Cascade, Hermits Cave and an Arboretum all a short walk from the House
There is also an Italinate Terraced Garden and a Walled Garden to view
A new feature within this Garden is a Garden Exhibition titled “The Lifecycle of Plants”
Places to eat are The Treehouse Café located at the Entrance to the Property for light lunches, sandwiches, cakes etc and refreshments and The Stables at the entrance to the House for Traditional Cream Teas, cakes, hot and cold refreshments and ice cream. You can also take your own Picnic if you prefer and weather permitting, enjoy the stunning landscape views.
16.30 Coach will leave for Tytherington
