Outdoor Dads is a group for dads and male carers to have an adventurous day in the woods with their kids. We light fires, cook lunch, explore the woodland and play games, build dens, use hand tools and much more. Spend quality time learning new skills with your children in the beautiful woodland at Tortworth.
We meet on the third Saturday of the month 10.30am–2.30pm. Booking is essential.
Based at Tortworth Forest Centre, Tortworth Arboretum, Tortworth GL12 8HH
We arrange walks each weekend as well as midweek evenings in the summer. The area and length of the walk varies greatly and members also arrange occasional weekends away.
We have regular social events such as skittles evenings, quiz nights, barbecues and the like, and there is always a Christmas dinner.
However, we are more than just a walking club. The Ramblers is a registered charity and one of its aims is to campaign to keep the footpath network open.
Local campaigns include transport, planning, recycling, wildlife and nuclear power.
Tortworth Forest Centre is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company which aims to improve lives by reconnecting people with nature, through conservation, wellbeing programmes, outdoor events, courses and volunteering opportunities.
The Centre is based at Tortworth Arboretum, a historically and culturally rich woodland. There is huge potential to bring this unique place back to use and to share it with people who want to learn about woodlands and develop outdoor skills - so get in touch if you want to be a part of it.
