Our attractive timbered building is listed, and dates back to at least 1674.
The date on the fireplace in our snug may not be when The Royal Oak was built, but a restoration record on a new fireplace.
The glass covered well features in the bar area and has fresh spring water flowing through it.
A diver went down to explore it in 1999, but the dive wasn't a success - he hit a grille and modern debris just 15 feet down, so the well is keeping its secrets for now.
The old oak tree on Bibstone Hill probably encouraged the name of our pub; the tree looks as though it could be at least three hundred years old.
Our cellar was used for cart building. The story goes that after one cart had been built, it had to be dismantled to remove it!
